Sea Tel FX FleetBroadband
At the start of Inmarsat’s Global Partner Conference in Barcelona, Cobham has announced plans to introduce its Sea Tel FX line of FleetBroadband products, scheduled for availability in March 2012.
Sea Tel FX line will consist of a complete suite of FleetBroadband products with Sea Tel FX 500 being the first to enter the market, followed by the FX 250 and FX 150 in due course. These products will include a comprehensive range of advanced user terminal features.
The development of the Sea Tel FX line builds directly on Cobham’s unique position as the strategic launch partner contracted by Inmarsat for the forthcoming Global Xpress™ services, scheduled for introduction in 2013. The Sea Tel FX line of products will allow for Ku-band and L-band hybrid services for today’s maritime needs, as well as Global Xpress and L-band solutions to fit the future needs of customers.
The Sea Tel FX product line extends Cobham’s offering for global maritime customers to include approved maritime Safety Services, high availability in all oceans and attractive ease of deployment above and beyond the high performance offered by its forthcoming VSAT 4012 GX system. The combined offering of both systems will be made available through accredited dealers for Sea Tel’s products.
Fred Cahill, vice president of Cobham Antenna Systems, said “The unique combination of Cobham’s unrivalled expertise in building best antenna systems together, with Inmarsat’s undoubted leadership in the global maritime L-band sector, brings a strong value proposition to the world’s maritime and shipping markets. We were a key hardware provider at the inception of Inmarsat in 1979 with our Sea Tel products and the new FX product line marks Cobham’s continued development in this extensive market. This is an exciting development, in particular because it enables maritime customers to harness the full range of service opportunities offered by Inmarsat.”
”Cobham’s Sea Tel products have a strong brand name in the maritime communications market and we are delighted to see them introduce the Sea Tel FX range of FleetBroadband products,” said David Kingdon Jones, Inmarsat’s Director of Product and Service Management. “With this announcement, traditional dedicated VSAT customers have the opportunity to build best of class Ku-L and GX-L hybrid services.”
